The Average Kid

I know you feel me and this spike of indifference

I didn’t mean to be a still water–

Silent, seemingly disinterested

With your subtle, perplexing hints

And your uncertain gestures

I feel you and your half-baked emotions

As they are no different from mine–

Obscure, murky feelings like the mud

Buried in the pits of a lonely lake

Hopeful but forever dormant

We feel each other– you and me

Drowned in this silent tug-of-war

Where no one really wins

Not even love nor hate

Perhaps only regrets…in time
