Love Letter

She recollected the contents of the note: she left on his desk, earlier that morning.

It wasn’t

Your eyes,

Your smile,

Or your personality.

I fell for the way you made me feel safe in the heart of a raging storm.

-XOXO

P.S. You can keep that heart, you stole.

Seven years later, he framed it for their anniversary.

  1. This is really lovely. Romance is often most powerful the few words you use. I honestly don’t think you even need the last line. Actually, the first time I didn’t notice it and then on the second read through, I did. I found I liked it better with a bit of mystery. Either way it is really captivating for being so short. Thank you.
