I have to ask myself this question all the time. I even ask my cat, Libra.

To me, a good person is someone who would return a wallet, as is, if found, regardless if the wallet had a shit ton of money inside. Why? Because this shows how strong their moral compass is, especially when given a situation that is very tempting.

A couple of days ago, I came across this kind of situation. It wasn’t a wallet though. I was at the gym near the squat rack and I noticed there were a couple of locking collars lying by the barbell I was about to use. Collars are clips that lock weights into place on a barbell. They cost around $20 – $50 for a pair and the ones I found looked pretty nice. No one claimed them and the gym doesn’t supply those because people would take them…

THE THINGS WE DO FOR LOVE.

We have all fallen victim to, and indulged in the delivery of some cheesy lines. We do this sort of thing. Make promises of forever. It’s not much of an exaggeration as it something we say in the heat of the moment. But when push comes to shove, what would you really do for your loved one? How far would you go?

Most of these promises we make, are about situations we’d most likely not encounter in daily life. I’m not a soldier, I don’t think I’ll ever have to take a bullet for anyone. I don’t think I’ll be scaling mountains for anyone any time soon, seeing as I’m not an avid trekker.

When I think about all the things I’d do for love, I guess the first and foremost thing would be to make real promises, about real things, you’d do for them in – yes you guessed it! -REAL situations.

I promise to be there for every little thing, because when it’s you, nothing is little. I promise to put your feelings above mine when we fight, because you matter more. I promise to shower you with love, whenever you’re sad so that you always have a reason to smile. Life will be hard. There’s no denying that. But, I promise to stay by you no matter how hard it gets.

Keepin it Real!

“Be nice”, they said. “Always be nice.” As important as it is to say nice things often, it’s also necessary that you remember to say things only when you mean them. I learned it the hard way. But, I guess, the hard way is always the appropriate way. Your little, harmless exaggerations could very well make someone’s day. Put a nice smile on their face. Making people smile… isn’t that nice? That satisfaction. Man. Just awesome. Gets you real high. But those things you say, start losing their value. If you go around telling everybody you meet that you love them, then when the time comes when you actually feel like you really; just really LOVE them; that phrase won’t mean a thing. You’d have to invent a whole new phrase to show them what you mean, and that’s a total drag. You don’t have to be an I-love-you-prude. Just say it when you mean it.

It’s the same case with letting people into your mind. When you’re the kind of person who tells just about anyone your deepest secrets, then it doesn’t matter who you confide in. Save the good stuff for the right people. I’m sure you all have them. Those right people.

If you’d do anything for anyone, then what sets apart your people from everyone else? Yeah, sure, you’d know. But who cares what you know? Unless there comes a day when you can feed your thoughts into a computer and actually show it to those people, you have no definitive way of letting them know what they mean to you.

Certain things in life make sense only when you’re going through it yourself. To me, this is one of those things. And when you talk about these things you can’t really be sure you’re making sense. Yes, it’s kind of a bummer. So, I’m just going to go with my gut. Have a good day everybody. And hopefully you’re keepin it real! 🙂
