The Dream

Every night, we meet in a recurring dream.

Making new promises, to redeem.

Your eyes locked on mine,

Our fingers entwine;

Two hearts beat as one,

All the masks are undone.

I couldn’t walk, but with you I fly.

Amongst the stars setting fire to the sky.

Wanderlust

Heads swaying to the sound of music. Hearts beating slow and sometimes frantic. They’d been at this for about a week now. The longest road trip she’d ever been on. The best time she’d ever had. To think this was all only an accident, it humored her. They were just fellow passengers who missed their flight and decided to rent a car and split the drive.

A conservative Indian girl who always stayed on the straight and narrow. She rarely stepped out of her comfort zone. But he.. He changed everything. Questioning her morals and ridiculing her beliefs. He was everything she never approved. A club rat with no sense of responsibility. However now, her opinions didn’t matter. Nothing mattered. His smile. That’s all she could picture. One smile and she was ready to give her heart away. But why? She didn’t know. She didn’t care.

It was only a matter of miles now. They’d soon be on their separate ways. Heavy hearted, she got out of the car as he pulled up on the side walk. Final goodbyes were said and pleasantries exchanged. Every one of those final moments, bittersweet. While she was left with memories to cherish, the fact that it was all ending too soon hit her hard. One last glimpse of his heartbreaking grin and she turned and started to walk away; walk away towards what will be a new life.

A sudden honk of the car horn interrupted her train of thought. He stuck his head out of the window with the sheepish grin and everything.

“Hey, I was wondering, would it be extremely inappropriate if I asked you out?”

“Yes it would”, she said smirking at him.

“Good. ‘Cause that’s pretty much my style. So what do you say?”

She laughed nodding in agreement. Oh how he made her laugh.
